When can I remove Rakhi from the wrist after Raksha Bandhan?
Once you have tied Rakhi on your brother’s wrist as per the age-old traditions, your brother might be wondering when to remove Rakhi from his wrist. The perfect answer to this question is basically, there is no specific time or muhurat that has been mentioned in any religious book for removing Rakhi. But, in various cultures, the timing of Rakhi untying is different for different regions. As per the Maharashtrian culture, brothers should remove Rakhi on the 15th day after the Rakhi festival. This is because the 15th day after the Rakhi festival is celebrated as Pola when farmers worship God Marbot Dev.
People from some other religions believe that there is no specific time for removing Rakhi. Brothers can wear Rakhi as long as they want to or as long as Rakhi is in good condition. According to the Hindu traditions, brothers can untie Rakhi on the eight days after Raksha Bandhan. This is because the eighth day is celebrated as Krishna Janmashtami. So, it will undoubtedly be the best day to untie the Rakhi.
